PayPal Integration
How to configure PayPal payments for your EstVis bodyshop and test the integration.
This article explains how to connect your PayPal® account to EstVis so you can send payment requests to customers. It covers where to get credentials, how to enter them in EstVis, basic testing, security recommendations, and troubleshooting tips.
Before you begin
- You need a PayPal business account used by your bodyshop.
- You must have manager credentials for your EstVis account to change company settings.
Where to find the PayPal integration settings in EstVis
- Go to the Settings page. Sign in if needed.
- In the left menu select Company Settings.
- Scroll down to the PayPal integration section.
The PayPal integration section contains the following fields:
- PayPal Client ID – your PayPal app Client ID.
- PayPal Client Secret – your PayPal app Secret key.
- PayPal Add text in message – optional custom text appended to customer messages that include PayPal payment links.
After entering values, click Save at the bottom of the page to apply changes.
How to get Client ID and Secret from PayPal
- Open https://developer.paypal.com and sign in with the PayPal account used by your bodyshop.
- In the top menu go to My Apps & Credentials.
- Under either Sandbox (for testing) or Live (for production) create a new app or open an existing one.
- Copy the Client ID and the Secret from the app details and paste them into EstVis.
Important notes:
- Make sure you copy credentials from the correct environment: use Live credentials when your EstVis company is configured for real payments.
- If you plan to test first, use the Sandbox app credentials and then replace them with Live credentials before accepting real payments.
Testing the integration
- If you used Sandbox credentials on PayPal, send a test payment request to a team member or to a test customer email from EstVis.
- Complete a test payment via the PayPal Sandbox environment to confirm the payment link works and that EstVis receives confirmation.
- After successful testing, replace Sandbox credentials with Live credentials and click Save.
Security and maintenance
- Treat the PayPal Client Secret as sensitive: do not share it by email or in chat.
- If a secret is exposed or you suspect misuse, regenerate the secret in your PayPal developer dashboard and update EstVis immediately.
- Rotate credentials periodically according to your shop's security policy.
Common issues and troubleshooting
-
Invalid credentials / authentication failed
- Confirm you copied the Client ID and Secret from the correct PayPal environment (Sandbox vs Live).
- Ensure there are no extra spaces when pasting the credentials.
-
Payments not completing or callbacks not registered
- Verify that your PayPal app is active and not limited by PayPal account settings.
- If EstVis shows errors after payment, contact support with the error text and a timestamp.
-
Wrong environment used in production
- If you accidentally left Sandbox credentials in place, disable them and replace with Live credentials before processing real payments.
Disable or remove PayPal integration
To disable PayPal integration temporarily, clear the values in the PayPal Client ID and PayPal Client Secret fields and click Save at the bottom of the page. This prevents EstVis from sending new PayPal payment links.
